How Clarity works
From minus to zero — a simple guide
One idea runs the whole app: earn more than you spend. What's left clears your debt and builds your wealth.
1. Starting up — three questions
- Monthly Wealth Target — how much money should survive each month, after all your spending, for investing and clearing debt. Example: ₹20,000.
- Total debt right now — add up everything you owe. One number.
- Fixed monthly commitments — rent + EMIs + anything that leaves your account automatically every month.
You can change all three anytime in Settings.
2. Logging money — under 10 seconds
1.Tap the big green + button.
2.Choose Spent, Received, or Card Repayment.
3.Type the amount. The 00 and 000 keys make thousands fast. The + key adds amounts together (tea 20 + auto 60 = one entry).
4.Type one word about it — "tea", "petrol", "zakat". This becomes a tag.
5.Tap the arrow. For spending, the app asks one question: Own money or Credit card? Answer honestly — this is how the app protects you.
The calendar key on the keypad changes the date if you're logging something from an earlier day. Made a mistake? Open History, tap the entry, fix it.
3. Tags — the app learns your life
Every word you type becomes a button. Type "tea" once — next time, tap the tea chip and it fills itself. Type the same amount you always spend, and the app guesses the tag for you.
Each tag files itself into a category (Food, Family, Personal…) and each category has a nature:
- Indulgence — fun spending: eating out, parties, shopping.
- Meaningful — life spending: family, rent, school fees, groceries, zakat. Never judged.
- Investment — money that grows: SIP, gold, business assets.
Wrong filing? Settings → Tags — one tap fixes it forever, and all old entries move too.
4. The Home screen — one glance, one answer
The big number — what's left this month. Green = you're ahead. Amber = waiting on income. Red = money out is beating money in. The thin line at the very top of the screen shows the same colour, always.
The speedometer — how fast money is surviving your spending. The needle should reach the top mark: that's the pace your Wealth Target needs. Spending pushes it down; income pushes it up; investing doesn't hurt it.
The fuel tank (WEALTH) — is the surviving money going to work?
- Red — indulgence is winning this month.
- Amber — your debt payments beat your indulgence.
- Green — your investments beat your indulgence.
- Full tank — investment beats everything you spent.
The dots under the tank are permanent: green dot = a month that ended green. Gold dot = a perfect month — speedometer and tank both full. Gold is rare. That's the point.
Road to Zero — your debt as a journey: how much cleared, how much to go.
5. The Goal tab — your finish line
The headline is a date: Debt-free by ___ — calculated from your real pace. Everything under it explains that date: your monthly trend, how fast the debt is closing, and what one more client would change (try the ₹15k button and watch the date jump closer).
6. Things the app watches for you
- Credit card spending — it's borrowed money, so your debt number rises by itself when you swipe. No hiding.
- Card paying card — logged, but marked as not real progress. Debt just moved seats.
- Big purchases while in debt — the app shows the real price: "₹65,000 — that's 2 months of debt progress." Your money, your choice — it just shows the exchange rate.
- Debt updates itself — repayments lower it, card swipes raise it. If interest moved it, correct the number in Settings.
7. The habit that makes it all work
Log every spend the moment it happens. Ten seconds, standing anywhere. The app can only show you the truth it's given. The calendar at the bottom of Home shows your logging days — keep it green.
When you beat your target with a full tank, the app offers a bigger target. Take it. That's how minus becomes zero — and zero becomes wealth.
